Argentine forward Lionel Messi has told Barcelona he wants to leave the club immediately.
According to reports, the Argentine sent a fax to the club on Tuesday saying he wishes to exercise a clause in his contract, allowing him to leave for free with immediate effect.
The 33-year-old forward joined the Catalan giants in 2000 as a youth player and has spent his entire career at Barca, and now has a contract with the club until 2021.

Messi’s decision to leave comes 11 days after Barcelona’s humiliating 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.
