The 2022 Global Citizen Festival took place on the 24th of September at the Black Star Square in Accra, Ghana.
The Festival is an annual music festival where fans take actions toward ending extreme poverty in order to earn free tickets.
Some of the A-list Ghanaian artistes that performed on the night included Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and Gyakie.
After the event, many Ghanaians wondered why Dancehall act Shatta Wale was left out of the bill.
However, entertainment pundit Prince Tsegah Speaking to Mercury Quaye Hitz FM’s drive-time show, Cruise Control revealed some industry ‘gatekeepers‘ sidelined the SM boss.
According to him, the Global Citizen Festival had wanted Shatta Wale to perform after doing thorough research on the big names in the Ghanaian music scene. However, some of the industry persons they spoke to prevented that from happening.
