Kumasi Asante Kotoko have moved a step closer to clinching this year’s Ghana Premier League after beating rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Frank Mbella Etouga’s 16th-minute strike settled the scores at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
This was after the Brazilian Fabio Gama was fouled by Hearts midfielder Abdulaziz Nurudeen.
After failing to beat Hearts in their previous two meetings this season, Kotoko came into the game determined to win for the first time, and they got off to a strong start.
Kotoko are now eight points clear of second-placed Bechem United whiles 16 points clear of Hearts of Oak.
