Veteran Ghanaian gospel vocalist, Maame Tiwaa, born Mary Tiwaa in Domeabra Ahafo, has passed away in the early hours of Sunday, December 7, 2025, after a brief illness.
Maame Tiwaa, a revered member of the iconic Yaw Sarpong & Asomafo music group, contributed to numerous gospel classics that continue to inspire believers across the country.
Discovered as a 10-year-old, she stood beside Yaw Sarpong as the soothing female voice of the group.
The group’s manager, Nana Poku Ashis, confirming the passing of Tiwaa, wrote on Instagram: “It is well hmmmmm!!”
Her last known performance was at the birthday celebration of Apostle Abraham Lamptey of Believers House of Worship.
