EOCO detains Shatta Wale

Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, popularly known as Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., has today, Wednesday August 20, been detained by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in connection with an inquiry into the tax obligations of a yellow Lamborghini.

In a social media post, Shatta Wale’s Media Relations manager, Samuel Atuobi Baah, revealed that the musician reported voluntarily to EOCO’s offices in the company of his lawyer, Cephas Biyuo, to assist with investigations.

The statement said management and the artiste’s legal team were “fully engaged and actively working with the authorities to resolve this matter,” adding that steps were being taken to secure his release “at the earliest opportunity.”

Supporters of the artiste, known as the SM Family, were urged to remain calm and avoid speculation. “We have the utmost confidence in the judicial process,” the statement read.

Management further indicated that the legal team would return to EOCO on Thursday morning to continue discussions with investigators.

They assured fans and the public that updates on the matter would be provided as appropriate.
