Victoria Kjær Theilvig of Denmark is the winner of Miss Universe 2024, becoming the first Dane ever to win the competition.
The 21-year-old Miss Denmark beat 125 contestants competing for the beauty queen title.
The 73rd Miss Universe pageant was held at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico, on November 16, 2024.
Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina finished as the first runner-up while María Fernanda Beltrán finished in third place in front of her home crowd at Arena Ciudad de México.
The competition, widely regarded as one of the most captivating in recent years, celebrated the talent, intelligence, and elegance of women worldwide.
This year’s finale featured a performance by singer Robin Thicke and was hosted by “Saved by the Bell” star Mario Lopez and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo.
The glitzy pageant began with contestants being narrowed down to a shortlist of 30, based on the results of Thursday’s preliminary event, which included a flamboyant national costume contest. The semi-finalists then paraded in swimwear, before 12 of them advanced to an evening gown contest.
The final five contestants later faced questions on a range of topics, including leadership and resilience. When asked how she would live differently if nobody would judge her, Theilvig told the judges she wouldn’t change anything, saying, “I live by each day.”
This edition also marked the debut of Belarus, Eritrea, Guinea, Iran, Macau, Maldives, Moldova, North Macedonia, Somalia, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan.
After the final competition, Continental Winners were announced during the press conference. Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, India, Morocco, South Africa, Spain and Thailand were shortlisted for hosting Miss Universe 2025.
