Chelsea booked their place in the Champions League final to set up an all-English tie as they saw off Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
Timo Werner scored in the first half to put the Blues on the path to victory before Mason Mount netted a second to see them through 3-1 on aggregate.
It was far from comfortable viewing for Blues fans, though, as the home team squandered a hatful of chances in the second half before Mount got the cushion goal.
They will go on to face Man City in the final after they beat Paris Saint-Germain last night.
Werner nodded into an empty net from a yard to put Chelsea 1-0 up in the 28th minute, the Germany forward profiting from good work from Havertz and N’Golo Kante.
Kante sent Havertz striding into the box and the former Bayer Leverkusen forward dinked the ball over the onrushing Thibaut Courtois.
The ball rebounded off the crossbar, but as everyone else looked on in surprise, Werner was first to the ball and nodded home.
Chelsea steered the game through to half-time with their 1-0 advantage intact, though Edouard Mendy had to produce another fine save to thwart Benzema from a header.
Tuchel’s side came out firing in the second half and should have killed the game off with two good chances in the first ten minutes.
Kai Havertz hit the bar, again, from a brilliant Cesar Azpilicueta cross while Mason Mount blazed over from 12 yards when he was through on goal.
Havertz again squandered a golden opportunity as Chelsea again failed to put the game out of sight.
The German playmaker was played through on goal, but his effort was saved by the Madrid goalkeeper low down to his right.
Mount finally doubled the home advantage with minutes remaining.
The England forward turned home Pulisic’s cross, to put Chelsea 2-0 up on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.
