Flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Atubiga has descended heavily on former President John Mahama for seeking a second term in office.
According to Stephen Atubiga, Mahama has already tasted the presidency, hence he should give other capable people in the NDC the opportunity to contribute to national development.
Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM, he said presidency is not like having sexual intercourse for former President Mahama to demand a “second round”.
“Being a president isn’t like sex for Mahama to demand another round,” Atubiga added.
Rather, he said former President Mahama should be a mentor and support his candidature to lead the NDC to victory in the 2020 general elections.
However, it is alleged ex-president John Mahama will confirm his intent to run for the presidency again today Thursday, August 23.
Mr Mahama’s office has invited the media to witness the presentation of a letter to the party in that regard.
“President John Dramani Mahama will at 10.30am today, Thursday August 23, 2018, submit to the General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) his letter of intent to contest the upcoming NDC Presidential Primaries. You are kindly invited to the NDC Headquarters where the presentation of the letter will take place at 10.30am this morning.”
