The Ghana Police Service has arrested the man who was captured on video discharging an AK47 rifle at A&C Mall on New Year’s Eve.
The man, identified as Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong was seen in the video firing an AK47 into the air as he celebrated entering the new year.
According to a statement by the police, it’s an offence to discharge a firearm in public “without lawful and necessary occasion under Section 209 of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29).
Announcing his arrest to the general public in a statement, the police wrote:
”A collaboration between the Police and the Military Police has led to the arrest of Flt. Sergeant Nicholas Owusu Frimpong in connection with the discharge of a firearm at A&C Mall, East Legon.”
