Paul Pogba inspired a sensational Manchester United comeback to deny Manchester City a chance to win the Premier League title in a 3-2 win on Saturday.
A win for Manchester City could have sealed their third premier league title with six games to spare. However, Jose Mourinho and his men quickly came back stronger in the second half to overturn the two-goal deficit scored by Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan.
City wasted a handful of opportunities with Raheem Sterling particularly guilty on most occasions.
But Paul Pogba, the subject of much pre-match attention after City boss Pep Guardiola claimed he was offered the player, led a revival with two goals after the break before Chris Smalling completed a miraculous comeback.
In the latter stages of the match, Sergio Aguero was denied a penalty following an aggressive challenge from Ashley Young but United held on.
The result still leaves Guardiola’s men in pole position for the title as they need just six points from their remaining six games (if United keep winning) – four of which come against relegation-threatened teams. This means they cannot secure the title at Wembley against Tottenham next weekend.
Meanwhile, Machester United are 13 points behind in second and are four clear of Liverpool with a game in hand.
