Ex-Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has slammed the technical committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) following the omission of Majeed Ashimeru from the squad to face Nigeria.
Earlier today, Coach Otto Addo named a 27 man squad for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 playoffs against Nigeria. The squad includes four players who have received their debut call-ups.
They are Club Brugge’s Denis Odoi, KAA Gent midfielder Elisha Owusu, Hearts of Oak left-back Dennis Korsah and Ashdod FC defender Montari Kamaheni.
Reacting to the 27 man squad for the playoffs, Gyan has lashed out at the technical handlers of the Black Stars over Ashimeru’s omission.
According to the 36-year-old, only Thomas Partey is better than Majeed Ashimeru and the latter should’ve been included in the squad.
Gyan tweeted: “This guy @MajeedAshimeru is the best midfielder in Ghana, after @Thomaspartey22 PERIOD. I have kept quiet on this but this nonsense must stop. Smh.”
The Back Stars will face the Super Eagles in two matches scheduled for Kumasi and Abuja respectively as the search for a ticket to November’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar heats up.
Ghana will host the 1st leg at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Friday, March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the 2nd leg on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
