John Boadu has been elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the just-ended National Delegates Conference at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

He secured 2,888 votes, representing 47.19 percent of the votes cast at the congress. He staged this win to beat his closest contender, Boakye Kyeremanten Agyarko, who got 2408 (39.35 per cent).

Paul Awentami Afoko had 790 votes (12.90 per cent), while Sammy Crabbe had 41 votes (0.67 per cent).

Delivering his acceptance speech after his election, John Boadu described his victory as a responsibility and called on all contestants to work together for the party.

“Today is not merely a day of victory. It is a day of responsibility and of great unity. I stand before you with a heart full of gratitude and humility,” he said.

He extended an invitation to his opponents to contribute their ideas, experience and networks to the development of the NPP.

“There must be no winners and losers. Only one NPP united around one purpose,” he said.
