Isaac “Royal Storm” Dogboe successfully retained his WBO junior featherweight title with a first-round knockout of Japanese challenger Hidenori Otake on Saturday night at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, USA.
Dogboe, 23, proved too strong for Japan’s Hidenori Otake.
Dogboe (20-0, 13 KOs) knocked the ageing Otake down twice and then battered him until referee Patrick Morley was forced to intervene to stop the slaughter.
Otake looked like a drunken sailor after he was knocked down for the second time. Dogboe, 23, was hitting Otake with huge shots, shaking him to his boots with each shot. The official time of the stoppage was at 2:18.
Earlier this year in April, Dogboe knocked out the then champion Jessie Magdaleno in round 11, the win made Dogboe the youngest world champion to come from Ghana.
Immediately after Otake’s win, Dogboe called out WBA world super bantamweight Danny Roman.
“I knew I will stop Otake and I have done it. My next aim is a unification fight and I’m ready for it,” he said.
“Danny Roman wherever you are I’m ready for you. Come out and let us rumble.”
