Ghanaians have reacted to Isaac Dogboe’s shocking loss to Mexico’s Emanuel Navarette.
The bout took place on Saturday, December 8, at the Madison Square Garden in the United States of America.
Isaac Dogboe who hasn’t lost a fight in his professional career prior to this fight tasted his first professional defeat as he lost his WBO Super Bantamweight title to the unknown Mexican boxer Emanuel Navarrete.
Judges Don Ackerman (116-112), Allen Nace (115-113) and Tony Paolillo (116-112) all scored Navarrete the winner of a fight ESPN aired from The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
The fight was Dogboe’s second defense of the title since winning it from Jesse Magdaleno back in April and defending it against Hidenori Otake last August.
In the fight Dogboe, failed to come to the party as the tall lanky Mexican controlled the action as he convinced the judges to score the bout in his favour.
According to Dogboe’s camp, they underrated the Mexican boxer, hence their defeat.
A section of Ghanaians have however, squashed this response.
Some Ghanaians believe that the 24-year-old Dogboe (20-1, 14 KOs) failed in the second defense because his father, who doubles as his trainer rushed him in taking up too many fights during this year.
Ghana’s greatest ex-boxer Azumah has advised Dogboe’s team to go back to the drawing board and watch the full video of the bout and fix things.
