Former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanten has officially resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Kyerematen, who served as Minister of Trade under the governments of John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, recently contested in the NPP Super Delegates Conference for the flagbearership.
However, he placed third in the election and subsequently withdrew from the race, citing intimidation of his supporters and unfair treatment in the North East Region.
In a press conference held today, Alan announced that he is “honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate”.
The former Minister said he is forming a movement, called “Movement for Change” with a Monarch Butterfly as the symbol.
” I am the only leader who can make sure the economic growth of this country is permanent. I will establish a movement for change.
I will Change the political status quo of Ghana from a two-party state. This will break the winner takes all political syndrome. I will make sure that there will be unity and inclusiveness in the political party regardless of their political affiliation.” Alan revealed.
According to him, he will make sure the Ghanaian Youth who represent 53% of Ghana’s population get everything they want.
