Former Dome-Kwabenya Legislator, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has been hospitalised after an alleged shooting incident at the residence of her younger brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo.
The attack happened Sunday at the home of her brother, Israel Kwadwo Safo, in Gomoa Mpota, Central Region, where he was gathering supporters to claim succession to their late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, who died in September 2025 at age 113.
According to reports, Adwoa Safo was at the property when gunshots were fired amid heightened tensions linked to an ongoing leadership succession dispute within the Kristo Asafo movement following the death of Kwadwo Safo.
Witnesses claim that armed individuals opened fire during a gathering reportedly organised in support of efforts to install Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena as successor to the late founder.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that approximately 15 rounds of ammunition were discharged during the incident.
Sources close to Adwoa Safo allege that one of the bullets grazed her near the neck. She was subsequently taken for medical attention and is said to be in stable condition.
The incident comes against the backdrop of a growing dispute within the Kristo Asafo family over succession arrangements following the death of Apostle Kwadwo Safo.
The matter has reportedly generated legal challenges, with some family members contesting attempts to elevate Nana Kwadwo Safo Akofena to the leadership of the organisation.
