A trader has been arraigned before court for allegedly biting off the upper left ear of another trader. An Accra Circuit Court on Friday granted bail to the accused to the tune of GH¢30,000.00 with two sureties.
The accused, Felix Ayenkoligo pleaded not guilty and has denied causing any harm to his colleague David Azure.
Felix Ayenkoligo is to reappear before the court on June 11.
Police Chief Inspector Emmanuel Haligah, narrating the incident to the court presided over by Mrs Jane Harriett Akweley Quaye said the accused and the victim, David Zure, were both traders living at the Texpo Market Baatsonaa.
On August 29, 2016, the accused together with another witness in the case decided to contribute money to cook some food.
However, Azure refused to contribute but later joined them to eat but Ayenkoligo prevented him.
However, Azure who has earlier been prevented from eating went to take some of the food on the blind side of the accused. This resulted in a fight between the two traders.
According to Chief Inspector Haligah, Ayenkoligo bit off the upper of Azure’s left ear, as a result.
A report was made to the police and Azure was given a police medical form to go to a hospital.
In the preliminary investigation, Ayenkoligo admitted the offence after which he was arraigned before court.
