Super 2 Cup Kotoko beat Hearts 4-0 on aggregate to lift trophy

Kumasi Asante Kotoko defeated their bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak 2-0 and 4-0 on aggregate to lift the Super 2 Cup Clash trophy at Baba Yara stadium on Sunday.

The Porcupine Warriors last Sunday beat Hearts 2-0 courtesy two goals from Burkinabe import Songne Yacouba.

Hearts had it all to do today in the second leg as they had to overturn a two-goal deficit to win the friendly tie.

The first half of today’s game produced no goals with both sides having a few half chances.

Hearts of Oak dominated the game with possession and opportunities in the first half but failed to hit the back of the net.

The game burst into life at the Baba Yara Stadium as Obed Owusu gave Kotoko the lead in the 70th minute.

Kotoko did not sit back as they pushed forward for more and Emmanuel Gyamfi connected beautifully with a Stephen Nyarko pass to make it 2-0 in the 83rd minute.

Kotoko held on and eventually won 4-0 on aggregate to lift the Super 2 clash trophy.
