‘Spaghetti-head’ Neymar roasted over curious new haircut in Brazil World Cup debut

Pasta, bird’s nest or a work of art? The verdict was split on an interesting new look for Brazil’s World Cup standard-bearer.

As we are all aware by this point, Neymar does not exactly shy away from some brave fashion and grooming choices.

But in revealing his curious new hairstyle in time for Brazil’s opening match of the 2018 World Cup the striker showed he has definitely gone out on a limb this time.

Neymar chose to dye his locks in strands of blonde, creating an effect not unlike a bale of straw or strands of spaghetti.

And as he took his first steps at the World Cup against Switzerland that most demanding sartorial forum, Twitter, was already passing judgement…

Despite the widespread derision, the Paris Saint-Germain star will be hopeful the new hair-do will bring him – and Brazil – some extra luck, just as it did for his predecessor Ronaldo 16 years ago in Japan and South Korea.

Like Neymar, El Fenomeno sported a bizarre new cut for the 2002 World Cup, which prompted plenty of mocking, but it did him no harm as Brazil won their fifth world title and he finished the tournament as top scorer with eight goals.
