NPP legislator for Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has clarified that former President John Dramani Mahama has been paid fully with no outstanding arrears.
According to the Deputy Information Minister, the arrears were paid as of July 18, adding government has no issue with the former President.
“As far as I know he’s been paid his ex gratia, he’s been paid all arrears of his salary and has been fully for his year 2018,” he said.
The Deputy Information Minister was reacting to claims by aide to John Mahama, Joyce Bawa Mogtari, that the former president’s office had not received a dime from the current government as salary.
Bawa Mogtari also revealed that the former President was being fed by his wife Lordina Mahama.
Speaking to an Accra-based radio station, the Joyce Mogtari indicated that all efforts made to ensure the current government to fulfil its mandate of paying the former president his emoluments as spelt out in the Professor Dora Francisca Edu- Buandoh presidential committee on Article 71 officeholders have failed.
The latest revelations by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, however, debunk the claims by Joyce Bawa Mogtari.
