Stephan Lichtsteiner who will be out of contract with Juventus on July 1st can join a new club from a free transfer.
The Swiss defender was spotted in Arsenal’s training ground last week. He is keen to sign for the Gunners and wants the move to be completed before the World Cup.
Emery wants to add cover for Hector Bellerin and believes Lichtsteiner would add some much-needed experience to the squad he inherited from Arsene Wenger.
The 34-year-old has received numerous lucrative offers from the far-east. However, he says his next move will not be motivated by money.
‘I don’t chase money and I need a place where I’ll have a good quality of life,’ said Lichtsteiner.
‘My wife and children have to be happy and that wouldn’t be the case in China. I don’t need more money.’
